Hence, Blue Everywhere for the name of this cache. I disguised this cache with some natural camo. I used the waypoint averaging to get good coordinates, so I hope they put you very close to the cache. This would be a lot harder if there is much snow. Bring your own writing stick as there is little room for anything in this cache. There is a FTF certificate included. Good luck. Congratulations to Pa Bottle on being the FTF.

I have to say, this is probably one of the fastest cache adventures I’ve had in quite some time, but that’s not to say it didn’t have an equally important purpose at the same time. In fact, this cache is essentially the very first step (albeit first very small step up a very long ladder) towards my eventual... very, very eventual... goal of finding a cache on every day of the year. At the bare minimum, next year I can grab April 29th. After that... 2016 would be the next opportunity if I miss next year.

But in either case... today I begin to strive for getting a full blackout for days of the year. It’ll mean a LOT more geocaching in winter, and being vigilant the rest of the year, but I figure if I can at least get one month (September being the closest to completion), that’ll at least jazz me up towards attempting this thing.

So all that in mind, even though today was going to be a fairly busy day for me after work, I excused myself for a few minutes and jumped in the car soon after I got home. With my caching kit thrown over my shoulder, I turned on the GPS and headed in the general direction of Southdale area, having remembered that there were a number of caches kicking around there. Wouldn’t you know it, the second the GPS finds a signal, I notice that I’m just about passing one just off a residential road to my left! Swinging off Fermor, I loop around towards the coordinates.

Not five minutes after I’ve left the apartment, I find myself parking the car in wherever an empty spot is somewhat close to the coordinates. At this point I haven’t even zoomed in on the GPS or told it to navigate me to that waypoint, so when I told it to go to there, it immediately beeped and said I was arriving! Wouldn’t you know it, I happened to have parked 10 meters from ground zero without knowing it. I literally would have been incapable of parking closer . Hopping out of the car, I was a bit worried that this cache would be difficult to go after due to the number of parents and kids in the nearby playground. However, it seems as though there was plenty of plant coverage to keep me from looking creepy.

I quickly set out looking around for where a cache could be hiding here. Only upon having selected the cache in the car when I parked did I find out that it was a micro, so I set my hunting method to account for this. Not having read the cache description or previous logs or hint or anything, I was flying blind, and crossing my fingers. I searched a few typical spots, and then happened to have looked in the right location at the right angle. Actually, the right angle wasn’t even all that necessary, since it seems as though either a person, animal, or the weather has disturbed the cache from its hiding spot. The cache container itself was just lying on the ground several inches away from where I soon discovered was its hiding spot. Grabbing both, I found my way to the nearby bench where I parked myself in order to look at the cache as a whole and completely figure out how best it should be hidden.

At which point, I’ve gotta say... this is a really awesome cache hiding spot. Had the container itself not been lying off to the side, it probably would have taken me a fair amount more time to find! Good stuff... although I don’t know if it’s just missing something, but the... umm... method by which the cache container and the camouflage stay together is somewhat iffy. Other than that though... nice job. I replaced the cache container as best I could back where I thought it should go. It seemed to look pretty authentic, and the leaves on the ground just added to its hiding abilities .

The logbook signed and a micromail ball dropped inside, I returned to the car and motored back home, where I think I was gone for a total of 15 minutes. Not too shabby for splitting on a ridiculously quick geocaching run .
