We have a terrible CACHE KARMA. Rather than reducing the number of our finds, we are placing this CACHE KARMA ENHANCER as our 1st hide in the city. We have chosen a nice little park that is in an area that we frequent regularly. It seems to be a busy walk through park 4 seasons, so beware of muggles.

PLEASE come and help enhance our Cache Karma!!!

Cache is a small-meduim size container, with FTF certificate, log book, mechanical pencil and a few tradeables.

Mmm... that's some gooood geocaching. Ok, I only went after 1 geocache today, but in my defense, I decided to head to it on bike. It actually wasn't too bad out... although my face and hands (despite being in my biking gloves... the hands that is, not the face) got pretty cold. Looking at the weather network now, it seems to indicate it's -19 with the windchill. Gotta say... feels a lot warmer than that out there. Heck , there were liquid puddles on the ground!

But anyway... off to the cache. I decided it would be in my best interests to avoid the road, and stick to the sidewalk. Winnipeg drivers don't have the foggiest clue how to drive at the best of times, let alone when there's even the remotest possibility of their tire touching ice. Due to the large drifts on either side of the sidewalk, this led to a fair bit of slowing down when pedestrians were around. No longer could I just swerve onto the lawn to pass them Frown. But I eventually got past the apartment buildings around here and onto the side of Fermor. I gotta say... it takes a fair amount out of you (although it could be that my biking muscles are out of shape from winter) to have to bike through even a small layer of snow. More effort than a flat, clean sidewalk anyway.

I eventually found my way onto Cottonwood, and promptly proceeded to bike a street too far ToungeOut. One quick correction later, and I discovered the park that this cache was located in. And not that far, either! Thankfully, the cold (which didn't feel that cold) must have kept the random bystanders at bay, since for the entire time I was in that park, I didn't see a single other person. Which made it quite easy to go after the cache. I imagine in summer, this is probably a dog-walker's paradise, and it would be a lot busier.

But onwards I went! Once I had neared the coordinates, I was almost certain as to what style of hide it would be. Not long thereafter, I discovered that I was correct Smile.

Although, on a note about the cache itself... I'd probably knock that down to a "small" size instead of "normal", if not purely due to the size of the opening to drop items into the container.

Anyway, I opened up the cache, and after eventually managing to remove the logbook noticed a TB tag at the bottom. "Aw MAN", I thought. "I was trying to be TB-less for a while." I strongly debated whether or not to just let the TB currently here reside for a bit longer... and then I noticed. It had found my weakness.

It was a Pokemon BigSmile.

Albeit not one of the original 151... my favourite series... but a Pokemon nonetheless. Swapping out TB's, I dropped the little (well, technically he's damn-near leviathanian in the Pokemon world) fella into my geocaching bag. One chainmail ball later, and I signed up the logbook and replaced it into the cache container.

Thanks for having a nice bicycle-in-winter accessable cache for me to go after BigSmile. I had forgotten some of my 'instant winter boots' at home, so I couldn't easily go through drifts without completely drenching my feet.

So with the cache found, I decided to bike on the surface of the Seine river to get home... see if I can avoid traffic, and the street I'm on goes right up to the river. I didn't get too far before I came across standing water on the surface of the ice. Now, I realize that the ice is probably still 2 feet thick or whatever... but that just makes me all kinds of levels of uneasy. Hence, I opted to find my way up the bank and back onto the edge of Fermor. Ah well... no matter. Mission accomplished BigSmile.
