Contains several pens and log book. When placed it contained a small cache inside called the moto photo cache. A cache I was never able to hide so any one interested can take it and place it someplace for me to find in the future! This cache also contains a digital fish, and a travel bug, as well as some other small nicknaks. Should be a quick find for most.

Man, am I glad there happens to be a geocache in Oakbank. Today we had made plans to go to a friend's birthday party out in Oakbank, so I figured I'd grab my GPS and see what's happening in the area. As it turns out, there appears to have been only one geocache. But hey, with the weather of today, I'm pretty happy I managed to go for even one today .

After the 20 minute-ish drive out to Oakbank from our place and spending a few hours with friends, we were preparing to head back. I had already told my wife earlier that no matter what the weather was like, I was planning on snagging this cache. It was definitely a good thing that I used such terminology, because the weather outside was definitely not conducive to going for a walk outside. Drizzly with random spurts of outright rain, cold, windy... yeah, not a day I'd want to spend outdoors. But hey, I'm spending the day, just a few minutes. We parked inside that strip-mall parking lot nearby there, and my wife stayed in the car (really can't blame her this time ). I did a quick jog around behind the strip mall, only to discover that there was NOT a path leading from there towards the geocache. Bah... that chewed up some time and added some moisture to my clothing. A quick jog back to the road, and I headed down the sidewalk. Quite soon thereafter, I came across the lot that was definitely more appropriate for a geocache. I actually didn't even notice the walking path through there until later, so on the way in I was basically weaving and ducking between the trees and branches. About 3/4 the way through the lot I noticed the path to my left, but seeing as I was only about 20 meters from the cache at that point, it was just simpler to continue through the trees until I got to ground zero.

And so ground zero showed up, and... nothing? Given the 1/1 difficulty, the fact that it was found only a few days ago, and the fact that the previous hider said that it tended to be somewhat exposed, I was rather surprised that I didn't see it right off the hop. This however can be very easily explained by the fact that my glasses had a thick coating of watery mist on them, and thus it was like trying to look through uneven, blurry glass. I attempted to wipe them on my shirt, but only succeeded in making them about 50% better. Still quite annoying and blurry around the edges (especially on my left lens), but at least I could make out a bit more. Turning around to see what I might have missed, it didn't take me long to spot the cache's hiding spot. I've gotta give credit where credit is due though... given the seeming lack of natural camouflage in the area as a whole, the previous cacher definitely did a good job hiding it. It looked fairly natural, and for the size of the container managed to cover it pretty much entirely!

The find being made, and myself getting damper by the minute, I opened up the geocache and had a looksee inside. After a quick poke at the contents, I signed the log-sheet that the last agent left, and dropped in the North Atlantic Lobster Geocoin that I had picked up recently. And of course, ye olde chainmail ball. Closing up the cache again, I managed to hide it as well as I could in the same place as before. Hopefully it'll stay hidden, but at least there wasn't much wind coming into the area thanks to the tree cover. Back to the car with me! As I returned, my wife commented on the fact that I looked soaked. Didn't bother me at all, because I had managed to find the geocache .

Thanks for giving me something to hunt for out in these parts. Cheered up a drive back to Winnipeg otherwise made dreary by the weather .
