It should be findable until we get about eight inches of snow on the ground. When my wife and I were young we used to go out to Birds Hill Park with my parents in the winter. We would take a Thermos of chicken soup and crackers and cheese (these could all be eaten with your mitts on). We would strap on our snow shoes and hike to one of the shelters or benches, brush off the snow and enjoy our picnic under the bright blue sky. This tradition continued with our children. This is a cache for the kids. The Stuffed Toy cache is an ammo box filled with eight stuffed toys. They are snuggled in there to keep each other warm. I've gotta say... for being a "1" difficulty and "1.5" terrain, this cache definitely put up a fight to be found today . Having just finished finding the "Rabbit Habit" cache a little to the North, I worked my way along the road, up the hill towards this cache. This would be find number 7 for me today, and although I was still under the personal goal of 'taking it easy' and not finding too many caches, the "about how many I'll find today" had been slowly climbing during the past few caches. Who would have thought that there were so many new caches in here since the last time I cached Bird's Hill Park. I ended up with 15 in the long-run today .

However, still being under the general theory of 'not many caches' I slowly worked my way up the hill (quite slowly... my legs were getting kinda tired at this point... and that combined with uphill makes for the bike being set to a fairly low gear ). There seemed to be at least one family... possibly several... having a picnic at the clearing at the top of the hill. Not wanting to be too conspicuous or disturb them, I decided to see if I could find a way to get my bike across the ditch somewhere remotely close to the cache. Not seeing anything immediately beside, about 20 meters North, I saw a bit of a clearing where I might be able to get across without completely soaking my feet. I was wearing sandals specifically to not worry about wet feet... but still... I'd prefer to avoid soaking my feet in strangely warm ditch-water all the same .

In the end, one of my feet still ended up being fairly ditch-watered .

But after having hoisted my bike onto my shoulder and gotten across the ditch, I soon worked my way near the coordinates and put my bike down. Time to search! And boy, did I have to search a lot. There looks to be a looooot of places that a cache could hide in there. Every so often, I stopped and stayed silent when I heard bikers or other people going down the road. A few bikers here and there, and a pair rollerblading, but otherwise it was pretty quiet.

After about 15 to 20 minutes of searching, I was beginning to wonder where in the world I hadn't searched yet. The GPS was bouncing me around all over the place, and I had searched (and poked my fingers into) just about every place I could think of. However... my persistence paid off, and eventually I had the cache in hand. I'm actually a little surprised I didn't spot it sooner. But with the colour of the surroundings and the colour of the cache container, it's not too far a stretch to think that my eyes just skipped over it at one point or another. The sun was fairly cut off in there too, so I couldn't even rely on the 'light glinting off of something non-natural' that's helped me so much in the past.

When I found the cache, I hadn't realized what the name of it was... so the contents quite surprised me. Seeing the name later on however, it aaaaaaall made sense . Unfortunately, I had no stuffed animals to trade... but given I don't have any kids either (with the exception of my cats), I suppose it's a wash regardless . Quite the assortment of toys, though!

So, lobbing in a chainmail ball and signing the logbook, I replaced everything back inside, being careful not to trap one of the ziplock bags in the seam when closing the container. At least on my way back to the road this time, I managed to keep both feet dry .
