AHA! At long last, we meet again Allegra. Or at least your cache . The third find of 7 today, and the first of the two successful Dinifra's therein . Anyhoo... the hardest part was by far GETTING to the cache today. It seems that the construction crews have once again shut down two of the three lanes for Westbound traffic over the bridge. Was there any construction taking place? No. Was there any construction workers in sight? No. Was the other side of the bridge shut down? No, of course not. They just decided to once again bottleneck traffic down to one lane again, and not actually bother doing anything else... just slow traffic right the hell down for no particular reason.

But... after an agonizing 20 minutes of crawling down Bishop Grandin (methinks I'll be taking Jubilee to work from now on), I eventually was capable of turning onto River road, and parking at ye olde parking lot that I stopped in last time I attempted this cache. A short walk later, and I was nearing the coordinates.

It looks like today a lot of people were taking advantage of the wonderful weather. Multiple random pedestrians walking, and several joggers passed me on the way to the cache. Thankfully though, noone was nearby during the time I was actually AT the coordinates. I imagine that on a really nice day later in spring or in summer, this could be a high-traffic area that would be difficult to get to inconspicuously during the day. Thankfully though, it looks like most people were either shopping, or scared away from the outdoors by the wet ground. Either way, it worked out well for me .

So after about 10 seconds, I had the cache container in hand. Luckly, there was still noone nearby, and I had ample time to search the cache and sign the logbook.

Although, in retrospect... had my instant winter boots not failed on me back in January, I think I would have had a half-decent chance of finding the cache. The only reason I turned back pretty much is because snow was getting into my shoes. If I had a little more time, I think I might have been able to stumble across the cache container.

Ah well... hindsight 20/20 and all that. The cache no longer has to dwell on my watchlist, and I can stop getting notifications that other people have found it .

That said, thanks for getting a geocache on this path. I imagine more will turn up over time over the stretch of the Bishop Grandin Greenway, but it's nice to finally have this one off the map... seeing as (until I start taking Jubilee to avoid the traffic congestion) I've been driving by it every single day on the way to work. Also, the DNF that I pulled on it before caused me to notice it twice as much every time I passed it . Hurray for successful dinifra!

Wow, the odds were stacked against me from the get-go for this one. For starters, it was dark by the time I attempted to reach this cache after work. Two, The Weather Network tells me that it feels like -41 out there. Three, this cache is apparently non-winter-friendly... a fact I didn't know until checking cachemate on my palm pilot when I was at the coordinates. And four, shortly after putting on my instant winter boots, they decided to tear and allow snow to be oh-so-neatly shoveled into my shoes. Yyyyeah... not lookin' good for me already.

I had resolved to go geocaching after work today. I've got several travelbugs (or at least one travelbug, one geocoin) that need to be moved along, and this cache (along with one a bit further down the trail) were the closest ones to work. Well... the closest ones that weren't a micro, anyway. Although if an altoids tin can be considered 'small', the TB wouldn't fit anyway. However, having no clue what the cache looks like, I figured I'd give it a shot. How knows... I've been lucky in the past.

Evidently, the law of averages must have felt the need to cache catch up . That, or Murphy's Law decided to kick me in the ass a few more times.

In either case, I parked at a nearby parking lot... some mini-lot for the cemetary about 150 meters from the coordinates. I was a tad worried about them locking the gate before I left (no clue if or when they close it), but given it was about 6:00pm, I figured I had some time. Although given the later string of luck, I'm surprised I WASN'T locked in . I treked over to as close to the coordinates as I could get on the path, then tied on my aformentioned instant winter boots. Trudging out to ground zero, my GPS quickly decided to bounce around when I got close. *sigh* One of those days. I eventually found my way to a consistant 3 meters away (with 4-meter accuracy), so I started looking around for potential spots. After searching several various locations, I slowly began coming to the conclusion that it wasn't going to be found anytime in the near future by myself . After about 5 vaguely potential locations, my foot-bags were torn, my fingers were cold, and my moustache was starting to freeze up. Yep... time to call it a day.

I'm sure the cache is still hiding in whatever arbitrary bush/tree-base/attached-to-side-of-tree/dangling-from-branch/in-plain-view location it dwells in... but it simply decided not to show itself to me.

Another day... another time... for the love of god, another temperature. A warmer one, that is. Lots .
