Join other cachers for a delightful walk-a-bout of one the city's hidden jewels, Assiniboine Forest. Meet at the co-ordinates posted above at 3 pm on October 21, 2007 for a Cache-A-Bout of the Forest's many caches and then at around 8 pm we will adjourn to the nearby Grapes Restaurant on Kenaston for some eats and cache talk!

A map of the order of how we will do the caches and bookmark list will be added to the cache listing in the near future. Please post a Will Attend if you even think you can make it. The event will be a game time decision, weather pending!

Please add this event to your watchlist as more information will be added to the listing in the near future!

As always everyone is welcome to all events. Come out and visit with other cachers and relive those memorable finds and DNFs or just come and find out more about GeoCaching. As a bonus, attending the event counts as a find. We hope to see everyone there!

Joined the group for a little while at the start, but unfortunately couldn't stay for the entire foray through the woods. But hey, at least I found one of the caches I hadn't gotten in Assinaboine Forest yet BigSmile.

Headed out here with me and my best friend Justin for a nice walk with other geocachers. Was hoping that the beautiful morning that we had would hold, and that it would stay sunny and windless the rest of the day. No such luck. Cloud cover decided to chilly up the day a bit. Wasn't all that bad with the sun peeking out from the clouds here and there, but the wind was pretty harsh. Although, for the most part that only applied to when we were waiting for geocachers to gather (although we apparently missed one... but more on that in a bit).

So me and Justin were among the first people arrive I think. Stood out by the entrance watching dog-walkers go by, and were shortly joined by (ironically) bad_dogg. After chatting with him for a bit, Ztirnats and Z'ad showed up... and then I kinda lost track, since more people started showing up faster. Got to meet Old Billygoat and someone who's name I can't recall offhand (Honeydrop? Honeydew? Something to do with Honey), and several others. Sorry... I'm horrible with names Frown. In either case... I gave my chainmail ball for the event to Honeydrop(?), so hope you find something entertaining to do with it Smile. Once everyone had gathered, we headed into the forest. A quick jog down to Hundred Acre Wood Resurrected, and we had already lost half of the group who went another way ToungeOut.

I had already found that in the past, so I signed the logbook to note it, and off we went. After soon thereafter finding MB PI Watch, time was running short for me and Justin, so we took off at that point.

On the way back however, we came across a geocacher who arrived about a half-hour late. Unfortunately, I can't remember your name either offhand Frown. We knew the group was about to go after Gneevil's Apology, so I pointed her GPS at that waypoint and suggested she look around the area. With the group travelling in a pack, the signing of logbooks and whatnot would slow things down... so I really hope she caught up to you guys.

And so after that last bit of good-deed-for-the-day, off we went. Thanks for having us with you, albeit for not too long... but it was definitely fun to meet up with people new and remembered Smile.

Took: A nice walk
Left: Logbook entries on the several geocaches, and a chainmail ball with Honeydrop(?).

Definitely coming to this one with my best friend in tow. Unfortunately, neither of us have any kind of footwear suitable for extremely wet conditions, but we'll play it by ear (or foot, I guess) when we get there.

Due to other obligations today too, we wouldn't be able to stay for the entire thing... but yeah, we're comin' to check it out. See you soon.

Looks like my weekend unexpectedly opened up here. Depending on the weather tomorrow, I'll be trying to stop by. But given I've been having to bike to work in the rain every day this week, if it's raining or something... I might just hold back.
