Located in a rest area the terrain is readily accessible A family friendly cache along the Transcanada highway is a great spot to get out of the car and stretch your legs. The cache is now a micro.It originally was a 850ml lock & lock that was muggled. It initially contained the Betwixt & Between FTF, Logbook & mechanical pencil, Canada Moose souvenir, a clamp-on LED light, a New Zealand 50p coin, various souvenir spoons, and other misc tradeables. Congratulations to bofamsearchers for FTF UPDATE: The original cache was muggled and is now a micro. Bring your own writing instrument.

Man, no wonder there are 12 DNF's on this cache (23% of all logs)... it's really well hidden! My wife and I were on our way home from Clear Lake in Wasagaming, and were tackling several geocaches on the way. This ended up being our last cache, simply due to exhaustion and wanting to be home .

After finding a cache in Gladstone, I kept checking the GPS to see what caches were right immediately near the road. I wasn't in the mood specifically for a long hike or anything, so a drive-by cache was exactly what I was looking for.

And that's exactly what I found... given this one is located at a rest stop. I was a little leery at first, since this was a micro. Generally, me and micros don't get along, but after a weekend of nothing but successful caching, I felt like I could find it.

The mosquitoes however thought they could take me before I could find the cache however! From the moment I left the car, they attacked Laura and I in droves. She was making some sandwiches for us for the second-half of the drive home (approximately), and I went off to tackle the cache. Upon arriving at the coordinates, I quickly realized that there was at least 1000 spots that a micro could be hiding. After a few minutes of fruitless hunting, I pulled out my palm pilot to check out the hint and description. I only resorted to this so quickly because I'm pretty sure I lost about a quart of blood by that point to the mosquitoes .

Unfortunately, the hint didn't help much, nor did the description of the cache. I kept poking around for another 5 minutes or so (losing another quart of blood, I think), and then went back to the GPS to read the previous logs. Most didn't help in the slightest, however Rnakonec's log indicating they found it by 'dumb luck' actually helped the most.

I thought for a second "If I were about to give up, and randomly attempt something in hopes of finding it through dumb luck, where would I look". This was more accurate than ever, since if I didn't find it in the next minute, I was going to bail on it and just go home with a DNF.

However, a chance thought led me to one of those 'aha' moments, and I had the cache in hand ! FINALLY! Walking a bit away from the area to avoid the mosquitoes, I signed the logbook and managed a micromail ball in to the cache container.

Thanks for giving us our final cache of the day, and a new style of hide to look for in the future. It's definitely been mental noted, since as M3J indicates several logs below, this type is apparently prevalent in some areas. Two and a half stars difficulty indeed... every one of those well-earned. I'm glad you put the effort you did into this hide, since it definitely made it a search to remember. If not for the hide, then the absolutely insane number of mosquitoes. I'd swear they're bigger and more vicious than at the lake as well... Laura was reacting to them faster, and they were absolutely relentless, whereas other places they mostly leave me alone for some reason.

So... an awesome weekend of camping and caching comes to a close. Several hours after this, I'm finally at home logging them. Definitely a weekend to remember .
