Sweeeeeet. I was debating whether or not to go after this geocache last night. When I was checking the location of where the nearby event was, I decided to see what geocaches had sprung up nearby since the last time I had cleared out the area. There appeared to be several, but ended up forgetting about them altogether.

Today after work, I headed off towards the event. Since I got home a bit late, I was more anxious to find myself some parking and get to the event. The event itself turned out to be rather interesting, but the event actually brought back the memory of nearby geocaches.

When I had stepped out to move my car (2 hour parking Mon-Sat until 10:00pm my ass), I happened to come across Z'tirnats and Z'ad as they were leaving the event, right after I had finished parking on the exquisitely smooth gravel parking lot next to La Garage Cafe. Informing me that a nearby Multi was quite quick to finish, I pulled an about-face, and headed back out towards the posted coordinates .

It took me a good few minutes of hunting before I stumbled across part 1 (being lucky not to have a dozen splinters in my fingers from feeling around... future cachers may want to be careful with bare hands around there ). After that however, I quickly entered the coordinates to part 2, and off I went! In typical Kabuthunk fashion, I turned the exact wrong direction when it came to make a turn. A little bit of fanangling later, and I quickly started to decrease in meters to the new coordinates. But... this is rather peculiar. It doesn't look like there's much that can really be opened here.

Taking a quick walk around, I attempted to locate anything with a key-hole. My first wandering took me to a padlock dangling from a nearby flag pole. However, the padlock was connected only to a loose chain, since there was no flag on the mast. Wrong size, anyway. My second attempt led me to a key-hole strangely embedded in the side of the wall next to the main entrance. I can assure you that the key doesn't fit in there however. The coordinates may seem correct, but no matter which way I flipped the key, it was sure as hell not about to fit into that hole . Giving up on that a minute later, I circled around a bit more. During my circling, I had actually ended up passing by the hiding spot without noticing it. I must admit, it blends in very nicely with the surroundings . Soon enough however, my geocaching eyes spotted it, and indeed the key slipped inside and turned the lock. SUCCESS!

Poking around the contents, I discovered a very old looking geocoin (Badger Buck), which appears to be about 4 years old. Don't know if that's very old for a geocoin, but it has a very short, completely numerical tracking number... so that's gotta count for something . Sorry about not having left a trackable in it's place. I hadn't read the cache description, and didn't know of this. Given the very nearby geocaching event, I wouldn't doubt if other travelbugs found their way into here tonight though.

That aside, I signed the logbook (which appears to be VERY full... you really want to look into swapping a new or larger one into there) on the final page... which wasn't so much a page, than the inside of the back cover of the notepad... and tossed in...

DAMNIT! I forgot to drop in a chainmail ball! Ok... no worries. I've been late with these before, and it's not like this is a hundred miles from home. Tomorrow after work, I shall return and drop ye olde signature item into the cache. This, I vow!
