nancycancache's eulogy: "With the deepest Love and Memories I have for my Father, who passed away this month just before Christmas Day.

As you know Tedd was a very active cacher here in Manitoba, and will be remembered in all of our hearts. We had a cache ready to place together, but his illness had caught up with him. He very much wanted me to continue this great sport he regularly referred too as GeoCaching so many times. His heart would fill with joy when I would Promise to accompany him on his adventures. On his good days he made me Promise that I would take his GPS into the fields and place our cache we made together. It was a Promise I could not refuse and Princess and I went out after his Passing and placed our cache. A Promise made, a Promise kept.

May his spirit remain with this cache for all who visit, and we all remember what a loveable Man he was. A father and best friend to me, and a soft spoken GeoCacher to all who knew him. Please feel free to jot down a few notes about how you knew him and where - if you ever met him on the trails, for he had nothing but good memories of his outdoor jaunts.

Thank-You."

I've gotta say... THIS cache put up a fight to be found ToungeOut. Cache 7 of the day... and by far the most troublesome of the finds I had (I only had one DNF, but it's likely missing. A dinifra shall be requied for THAT one, anyway... but NOT this one BigSmile). I was kinda worried though, since previous cachers seemed to have problems with this one... but I'm stubborn ToungeOut.

So... after going down a really creepy, cool path (see pic 1), I veered down a reeeeeeally thin path leading towards the coordinates (not knowing that there was a significantly easier method to get there... which I discovered later of course). At which point... a good 30-40 minutes of searching took place ToungeOut.

I must have scoured every possible hiding spot near the coordinates for 3/4 of that time, after which I thought to myself "Ok... I'm obviously not finding it by "looking for something"... I need to "think like a geocacher". This led me to about 4 or 5 additional spots I hadn't first searched... thinking "if I were to hide a geocache here... where would I put it". I quickly came to the conclusion (after finding said 4 or 5 additional empty spots) that my "zero point" of the GPS must be off. Hence... I expanded my search.

Well, I had expanded it during the first 3/4 of the hunt... but I decided to expand further. Going about 30 meters from the coords in all directions quickly led me to the cache... approximately 15 meters south of where my GPS was trying to point me (basically by that big spruce/pine tree, whichever it is). VICTORY IS MINE BigSmile.

I STILL love the area though. So dark and creepy down that path... MAN, I wanna build a fort in there ToungeOut!

During my searching as well... I came across a wild turkey (or prairie chicken... but this seemed too big to be one of those)! And by "came across", I mean "almost stepped on it". About 15 meters north of that spruce/pine tree, I came across said turkey sitting on what I assume was it's nest. For the record... they DO hiss if you get to close ToungeOut. I snapped a picture of it though (just it's back though, since the front half of him was crammed into the greenery).

Took: Nothing
Left: Logbook entry, the wild turkey alone, and chainmail ball ToungeOut
