Needs Maintenance 10/18/2006 by Kabuthunk
Yep... see previous post. It's got wooden armour on it for the time being, but is kinda in need of metal armour (like one of those metal, waterproof match containers or something). If someone could supply this, then I'm fairly certain this cache should be able to live on quite nicely and hopefully unchewed ToungeOut.

Found the cache, but it's in dire need of some armour of some sort. It was found pretty quickly, but this was because it was sitting on the ground outside of what was assumingly it's hiding spot, with the bottom-corner chewed off, and the logbook soaking wet, lying beside it, half-chewed.

Seriously... whatever chipmunks or mice or rats or whatever are here... what in the world do they think is tasty about plastic that might smell a bit like camera film?!?

In either case... after lobbing a micromaille ball into the gaping hole in the bottom of the cache (hey, I still leave 'em with every cache found), I decided build some impromptu defense shields. First... I kinda soaked up as much moisture out of the logbook as I could (once you get it, it might put up a fight if you plan to scan it or something). Luckly, I had a spare ziplock bag with me, so I put the container in there, and the logbook neatly folded up just inside the ziplock bag. Nearby, I found a piece of old floorboard someone tossed in the bushes. I was able to break it apart a bit (what was once garbage is now a defense mechanism). Then, thanks to me having emergency duct tape in my geocaching kit (hey, y'never know. Situations like THIS might come up), I taped three sides of wood around the baggie'd container, and crammed wood into the sides to keep things from getting into there. Then I crammed the entire thing into what was assumingly it's hiding spot.

Basically... that'll hopefully hold it until Skaven can retrieve it and maybe swap it with a metal waterproof match container or something. Let's see those little furry freak's teeth get through THAT (having said that, I wouldn't doubt it at this point ToungeOut.

Yeah, just see the attached picture for details. Top-left is the cache as I found it, top-right is it baggied, bottom-left is the wood I used, and bottom-right is it's final form.

Took: Nothing
Left: Logbook entry (quite hard to write on it), micromaille ball, three pieces of wood ducttaped around the cache, and two pieces of wood just wedged into the sides of it.

Didn't find it 9/18/2006 by Kabuthunk
Well... looks like I probably should have read the earlier logs instead of just downloading all of the Conquista Del Mundo - African Continent waypoints. As with the previous logs, I was unable to find a thing, and as well... found the ever-famous-to-this-cache sole of a shoe. Looking closer at said sole... it said 'goodyear' on it. Strange... I never knew Goodyear made footwear. In either case... yeah, found multiple 'probable' places the cache could have been, but no clue which it was supposed to be inside of, assuming it's missing (given the previous geocachers said on this page that they found mangled logbook and container). Hope this fella's back again sometime. I spent about a half-hour out in the cold, windy drizzle searching for something that wasn't there. I've now got a grudge against this thing until I find it ToungeOut.
On a random note... somehow this area seems a little too... foresty to be "Egypt" ToungeOut
