This one's for you Manny and all the other newbies out there.

Manny is a coworker of mine that I have introduced to geocaching. He's still a newbie and learning how to use the GPS. I thought I'd place a cache in his honour in the park that's near his house, so he'd have something to practice on. This is an easy cache, just a few feet off a bicycle path. Bring the whole family - more eyes make for a shorter search. It's a small lock and lock container with a log book and a few trade items.

The cache is winter accessible, but could be difficult to get to in the spring when the flood waters are high. Beware of stinging nettles.

Good luck!

This cache was created to add to the number of QUALITY caches hidden in Manitoba. It is an official cache in the MBGA Cache Splash event.
Category 24: Cacher Tribute themed cache. A cache dedicated to your favorite cacher. (Please ask the subject of the cache for permission, first.)

Note: I'm officially an idiot, as I accidentally logged the wrong cache when I had evidently found this one in actuality. Hence, I'm copying the log to here, deleting the other cache's log (which I'll be re-making, since I found it today). Well, at least they were one after the other, so it made the fixing my online logs easier ToungeOut. Unfortunately, there's actually a geocoin sitting in this cache which I no longer have the number for. It's currently listed in 'Splashing the Wildewood'. I'll be seeing if I can correct this somehow. Until then... yeah, there's a geocoin technically in here.

But ahh... I've been wanting to tackle this one for a while now. Unfortunately, time has been rather short for the past while, and the last time we were near (to take out the 'Word of the day is Zulu' cache), I was with my fiancee and she wasn't up to hiking through the bushes at that time.

BUT... given I've been holding onto a geocoin for a week, I specially made time to go out today and go after this cache. Hopped onto my bike, and off I went. I was a tad worried about the potential mud-levels on the trails, but it hadn't rained in about a day and a half. As well, it had been sunny today, so I crossed my fingers.

Evidently I didn't cross them hard enough ToungeOut. It wasn't MUDDY muddy, but more like 'harder biking, and some will stick to your tires' muddy. And that I can work with quite easily. Off down the trail I went... at which point I discovered that this is a VERY green area! Only on the bike trail was it not a bright green. Ahh, nice dense bushy areas... gotta love 'em BigSmile.

At which point, when I neared the coordinates, I headed into the dense greenery. At which point... since I was wearing sandals, I felt much stinging on my feet. At first I just suddenly felt really itchy, but didn't think much of it. Then as I began to walk my bike over to where I could lean it against something, and poke around for the cache, I noticed that anytime I touched one of those pretty, bright-green, leafy plants I'd have the same stinging sensation on my hands/wrists/whatever. Looking closer, all of those plants have reeeeally tiny spines on the stem, and probably smaller ones on the leaf stems or the leaves themselves.

Luckly, whether it's stinging nettle, or some other random plant... the sensation disappeared after about 60 seconds BigSmile. Could be like the way poison ivy doesn't seem to affect me, maybe I'm just good at not having any longer-term affects of this plant too.

NONETHELESS... before I get side-tracked too far... the cache! Ahh, the cache. Took me a while to figure out how to get that sucker out of it's hiding spot. But eventually (after getting more stung by those plants), I prevailed. Nice hiding spot though! Not much fear of it being stolen anytime soon ToungeOut.

But... thanks for the fun bike ride and foliagy hunt Smile.

Took: Nothing
Left: Logbook entry and chainmail ball

EDIT: Geocoin issue corrected Smile
