But before I went out I checked and realized there were no caches in this great little town. So I decided to change that. Lots of nice little hiding places in the area of the park, but the problem was muggles. Depending on what ios happening around here it could be intresting to get in and get the cache. The cache only has a log sheet in it, BYOP.

I'm actually somewhat surprised... much like the cache hider... that up until this one, there has been no geocaches placed in New Bothwell. I mean seriously, even Landmark has a geocache kicking around in it. So when I happened to randomly stumble across the fact that a geocache now dwelled inside this town (I generally check what caches are near my mom's place when I'm going to be heading out to Landmark), I decided to check out New Bothwell's first geocache.

It was a beautiful day out of sorts. Sunny, very few clouds, sitting at somewhere around 23 degrees celcius. Not too shabby for late September. Oh, the wind was gusting to over 60km/h. *sigh* There's always a catch . So with the wind going absolutely insane today, I headed out from my mom's place to go and check out this geocache. Heading South for those few kilometers probably soaked up more gas in my car than the entire return trip to Winnipeg with the wind the way it was. But, my car pushed through the winds, and soon enough I was coming up into the town of cheesy goodness. It's been a fair number of years since I've passed through here actually. I used to bike out here all the time as a kid, since we lived about 3.5km's away as the crow flies, according to the GPS.

The roads seemed entirely deserted, and thankfully no events were happening at the park to make the finding of this cache more difficult. Not that I imagine anything happening at the park could have had that good of a time if they strayed outside the tents... this wind was vicious! Parking on the edge of the road, I worked my way over towards the coordinates. Spotting nothing offhand, I began to ponder how on earth anything even COULD be hidden around here. After walking back and forth a little bit, I stood back for a moment and thought about things for a second.

And then something unusual happened. While I was standing with my back to the wind, I was looking at the trees when instantaneously... everything became about 50% brighter! OH CRAP! The sunglasses that clip/magnet to my regular glasses just blew off ! By absolute blind luck, I spotted that my sunglasses had flown into the chainlink fence, and were very precariously lodged by the way of one lens caught on one of the wires (since these are the clip/magnet type, they don't have the ear pieces). I carefully but quickly approach it, since it's currently violently shaking in the wind, just begging to slip upwards ever so slightly and sluice through the chainlink fence. Thankfully, I grabbed it and put it away. Whew!

With that out of the way, I continued my hunt with a bit brighter view. Seems to have helped or something, since about 30 seconds later, I had the cache in hand . Not wanting the log to disappear somewhere into and past the park, I crouched down beside my car, shielding myself from the wind. One signing and a micromail ball later, and I put everything back into the container. Returning to the gale (literally, I looked it up after converting to knots), I returned the geocache from whence it came. Thankfully it seems very secure, and can obviously survive strong winds . Thanks for getting a cache out around Bothwell !
