Second cache of the day for me. On a not particularly warm day out (+10 by the weather network... but given it's mid-October, it's surprisingly warm more than anything) for biking, I had it in my head that I really wanted to go for a bike ride today. So, getting my best wind-breakery type clothes on and bundling up a bit, I headed out for a few hours of cycling. I at first didn't know entirely where I was going to bike to, but eventually found myself heading Southward. I had seen on my GPS's map for quite some time that two geocaches existed right around this area. Typically, I've either been too busy or whatever to go after them, but today I had a bike to avoid parking or traffic worries, and time to kill. The perfect combination!

So after getting a quick find on the nearby 'Frame 10' cache, I immediately headed up towards this one. The area struck me as strangely familiar, since I had once had a cache somewhat nearby (long since archived). But, I'm glad to see that caches have started to fill in this area a bit... I always thought it was kinda empty feeling. Course, given this cache and the last one I found have been around since 2009, the area has clearly not been empty for a good while now ToungeOut. But... I have a cache to find!

Having found other caches of the "FILO" series, I had a vague, general idea as to what to look for, and what types of hides they tended to be previously. I however had to slow up my approach a bit, since just as I was coming towards the general area, there was a pedestrian walking down the sidewalk past the fire station. And as luck would have it, sure enough he turned down the alley as well and walked along there too. Not wanting them to notice me, I hung way back until they rounded the next corner, at which point I was free to get to work. The area as entirely empty of people (few parked cars here and there), so all was good.

It turns out however that I didn't even need it to be empty for that long though. As I drove up to near ground zero, I began to contemplate where the cache could be hidden. However, as I rolled along a little bit further, something reflected the light differently than everything else, and caught my eye. Once I had spotted and identified what caught my eye, I was certain that the cache had already been found Smile. One quick reach later, and I confirmed my thoughts. Nice quality cache container by the way. I love seeing these as a container... definitely better than film canisters and the like. The logbook put up quite a struggle to escape the container though, so I had to kinda whack it like I was shaking ketchup out of a bottle or something, until eventually enough of the paper showed itself and I could grab it.

Looking at the signings on the log, it appears that for the longest time the names were signed correctly and such. And then suddenly, people switched to signing the 'last' page instead of the currently started one in the middle. So if you're wondering where my name is in the logbook, it's not located under the 'most recently dated' name otherwise... but on the middle page where the rest of them should be ToungeOut. And since the logbook was quite thoroughly filling up the container (seriously, did you like... measure the width of the log with a ruler or something?), I decided that leaving a nanomail ball would probably be the best option for a signature item.

Thanks once again for getting some more caches out in this area. Ever since I had archived an old geocache in the vicinity, it had always seemed somewhat empty around here. Glad that it's coming to live a little bit once again Smile.

Took: Nothing
Left: Logbook entry and nanomail ball
