Close to the cache is a walking and biking path leading into the centre. While you are at the cache take the time to see one of Winnipeg’s best nature areas. Fort Whyte offers more than 600 acres of aspen forest, hiking trails and an interpretive centre which includes a Touch Museum as well as the Aquarium of the Prairies. Over 30 bison live in a sanctuary at the park. Deer are everywhere, and during the autumn the flocks of geese that come to spend the night cover the several large ponds and are a sight to see. Third find of the day! I figured while I was in the area finding two other nearby caches, I would swing by and go after this one. This cache in particular has been on my mental note list for a while now. I've had several caching runs to the nearby vicinity... it seems to be about every few months, it seems. Each time so far however, I've always had to withdraw before I could reach out and go after this one.

Which actually almost appears to have been for the best, I'm thinking. Having visited this cache after work today, I ended up arriving somewhere in the ballpark of 6:10pm. I'm not certain, but I'm guessing that this... facility... or whatever it is...

Ooohh... this looks quite intriguing. I can safely say that I've never been to this nature center. I think I've heard it mentioned once or twice, but that's about it. Since the main gate where I parked (about 10 meters from the coordinates) was closed, should I assume it was closed? Or is there like... parking elsewhere, and that's a service entrance? And what hours is it open? Or what times of the year? Random suggestion... you may want to throw a link to that places' website in the cache description... although I'll be googling it shortly . Looks interesting to say the least... will have to check it out sometime?

Where was I? *looks back in log* Ok, for the best, seemingly closed. Right, yes. Probably for the best that it was closed when I got there. I imagine that the bystander population would be a lot greater if this place was open (assuming it wasn't when I was there). Today, there was no pedestrians, and the only cars were passing by on the highway, not paying attention to me in the slightest. All of which made obtaining the cache itself quite easy. I think it took all of a few seconds to find it . I didn't even see it at first, either... I just placed my hand where I figured it would be... and there ya go.

The nearby rock stopping road traffic from going on the walking path made for a nice seat while logging the cache. Nice and smooth, too. Although, it looks like the ziplock bag was torn at the seam along the side. I still replaced the logbook inside of it though... better some plastic water-protection than none. Then again, I'm not sure how much rain can hit the cache container, let alone hit it hard enough to squeeze under the lid. I imagine it'll be fine regardless.

Took me a few seconds to figure out how to put the cache back in place though. But thanks for introducing me to the area. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out on this nature center. Perhaps swing by when I'm in the area, see if it's open... hope the entrance fee (if any) is small .

Also the biking path... I've totally gotta head out here with my bike sometime, see where that goes. And if this place apparently has bison, deer, and all sorts of various animals, it could make for a cool place to bike. Obviously, I somehow doubt there's no fence between you and bison... but still.
