♫ Should she open it, or should she keep it sealed? ♫

A parody episode of, and tribute to the incredible entertainment and community nature of Pat Flynn, aka: Deep Pocket Monster. I've been enjoying those episodes for years (if you see a posting of "Kabutops!" in the comments, it's likely me lol), and I look forward to them every time.

About the PP2GS: I had this looong, long ago, having gotten it (been given it? I can't even recall) back when it was new in 1999. And I loved that thing! It was used in connection with Pokemon Silver a handful of times, but my main memories are just shaking it every so often, and seeing Pikachu smiling up at me. It might have disappeared into a drawer for a year or more, but I'd stumble across it at some point, give it a shake, and smile to see Pikachu, though having retreated into the pokeball, after another few shakes, pop out again and happily greet me. And that's how it would go. I did keep it with me a number of times to actually be a pedometer (often when planning to connect it to the game, but often just as a pedometer), and keeping track of my steps, and getting more exercise, and it was always a smile. And then it vanished over the years. I'm not sure if it was during the Great Loss, or if it was lost between one of the many housing moves, or when trying to ship it overseas to England, but somewhere, it vanished. And as of 2026, it was one of the last few potentially recoverable items lost to the past. And then, when on the brink of leaving survival mode, this became sign 2. And the amusement that was this video resulted. And I am amused, and happy to have my Pikachu, or at least a spiritual successor to, back again.

I bought it new rather than opened and used mainly because of shipping. I've had unfortunate instances of customs opening electronics in the past, and I was really worried about them just popping the ol GS2 open with a screwdriver and sending me some worthless plastic and shattered circuitboard, especially for something so hard to find and expensive. And this unopened one was the only one at the time listed as such online, so I thought... ohhhh, let's go for it. My mind was beginning to dabble with the idea of post-survival spending money again, I was thinking of the dice that I'd bought, and how it hadn't actually hurt, and I could afford to splurge on something like this to appease a missing part of myself, and that customs would in all likelyhood not break open something in its original packaging. So it came to be, and I decided to make this tribute video out of it (also on YouTube), because that seemed appropriate.

Am happy ^_^
