Bring your own writing stick. Even before Austria's attempt to regain autonomy during the Napoleonic Wars, Napoleon (1769-1821) encountered trouble on the Iberian peninsula -- trouble that would end only with his reign. When Britain's ally Portugal rejected the Continental System (a trade boycott initiated by Napoleon against Britain), Napoleon secured permission to invade Portugal via Spain. Ensuing Spanish discontent led King Charles IV (1748-1819) of Spain to abdicate in 1808 in favor of his son King Ferdinand VII (1784-1833), who was received enthusiastically by the people. Napoleon, however, forced Ferdinand and return the crown to his father, who then resigned his rights to the French emperor, whereupon Napoleon crowned his own brother, Joseph Bonaparte (1768-1844), sparking a national uprising backed by Britain. The French, after setbacks at Bailen and Vimeiro in 1808, surrendered Lisbon. Then Napoleon himself took command of the French forces and nearly defeated the British, who narrowly escaped at Coruna in early 1809. That year, with France preoccupied in Austria, the British under Sir Arthur Wellesley, Lord Wellington (1769-1852), returned to drive the French from Portugal and invade Spain, overcoming the French at Talavera on July 28, 1809. But Napoleon's reinforcements restored French ascendancy. In 1811 Wellington's forces began their inexorable recovery of Portugal's frontier fortresses. They proceeded to Salamanca and Madrid, evicting the French from southern Spain in 1812. Wellington failed to take Burgos but in 1813 routed the French at Vitoria and pursued them back into France, where he laid siege to Bayonne and Bordeaux, his actions merging with the general allied liberation effort. The Peninsular War brutalized Spain and detonated revolutions throughout Latin America.

YES! And another DNF has been sliced unnecessarily violently from my DNF list! ANOTHER ONE HAS FALLEN! GYAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh yes... my thirst for vengeance has been slaked by the blood of this DNF! Hear it now and hear it well, other DNF's... you will feel the cold steel of Kabuthunk's chainmail balls spear through your very soul, and have it course through your veins for the rest of your eternity!!! AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!!!

*ahem* So yes... I've resolved another DNF. The satisfactory feeling is quite refreshing.

BLOOD! I CAN TASTE THE DNF'S BLOOD AFTER HAVING DRAINED IT FROM IT'S NOW LIFELESS HEART!!!

But... aside from the temporary insanity, I AM quite glad to have claimed this fella. I had been kinda leaving the Conquista's over the winter. However, upon opening my email, I saw a notification. Said notification indicated that none other than BBrown94 found none other than Conquista Del Mundo - Western Europe. Sweeeeeet. This cache in particular had been bugging me, since I spent a fair amount of time at it last time. Hence... stopped by after work, and went to work looking for this cache. Looks like it's about time to start going after Conquistas again

At which point, I found a COMPLETELY different cache hidden approximately two inches from this one. I found the other one first (Cache & Carriere - Doppelganger), and was rather perplexed as to why it did not say "Conquista" on the logbook, nor did it have a number with which to find the multi end-conquista for the area. However, after placing the mystery cache back, I spotted the corner of THIS cache, and got a find on this one as well .

TWO! IN BUT A SINGLE THRUST, THE UNFOUNDNESS OF TWO CACHES HAVE BEEN HURLED INTO THE GAPING CHASM THAT IS THEIR ETERNAL SLUMBER!

*ahem* Yes... definitely nice to have 'killed two birds with one stone', if you'll pardon the needlessly violent expression . I do dislike violent phrases, but one uses what one must.

How is this one not checked/temporarily unavailable/archived by now? Man... I've gotta learn to check how many DNF's a cache has before blindly going after it.

Unless the difficulty level is hideously underestimated, I'm pretty sure this one's gone. If there used to be a park bench chained to either of the two nearby trees, it's gone (although, I did search the nearest-to-coordinates park bench). Failing that, if it was hiding under/behind some park at the base of the 'tree closer to the play structure', it looks like some bark was pulled off the base, showing a kinda bare, barkless section there.

In either case... couldn't find a thing. The annoying part is that I had to WAIT to not find a thing. Just as I got there, some driving instructor was showing some kid how to parallel park between pylons. They circled the block three times, parking three times, then packed up and left. I spent most of that time trying to look like my GPS was a cellphone .

Well... onto the watch-list with ye! I shall return if/when it's reenabled.
