Well, this area looks somewhat familiar. Which is definitely a good thing... I love this little park area! Seriously... more cities (and more places in Winnipeg) REALLY need to think about turning the 'leaves' of a highway cloverleaf interchange into mini-parks. Oh, I'm sure in a number of places there will be some parents whining about it not being 'safe' or whatnot... but people today are too over-coddled growing up, and those types would certainly latch onto that attitude. Hell, the city could put up a fence to avoid being sued or whatever. But I digress from my previous digression. Parks in these interchange leaves need to be more everywhere!

But no, seriously... I love this little park, and I'm surprised there wasn't another cache put here nigh-instantly after the old one was archived. I kinda wish I hadn't had to move (old apartment was getting ludicrously expensive) further away from here... I quite enjoyed parking myself on one of the benches in the area during a bike ride and chilling for a while. But at least I had the opportunity to come back today! Due to my wife having needed the car to pick up stuff from work today, I biked into work instead of taking a bus (three buses/two transfers to get from St. Anne's to Pembina? Pfft!) and so had ample access to do some geocaching after work today. Well... not so much ample, since I hadn't quite taken into account how much hungrier I'd be at lunch after biking in the morning . But nonetheless, I knew of this cache, and had planned to hit it after work and see what I could come up with. Well... if it was devoid of bystanders, anyway.

And luck was with me! When I arrived at around 6:20pm, there wasn't a soul to be seen in the park. Rolling up into the park while looking at my GPS, I had a hunch as to where the cache would approximately be, and given there's next to nothing else near ground zero, I was correct in my assumption. Putting my bike down, I began to circle the area and see what I could spot. Given the cache size is listed as 'unknown', I wasn't entirely sure what I was looking for. However, after a bit of hunting around, I managed to spot the container. Finding it was fairly difficult... but after I had left to get my pen and sign it, trying to locate where it had been hidden was probably TWICE as difficult. I just couldn't spot it for some reason for a good several minutes, even though I knew where it SHOULD be.

And speaking of signing... this cache got a bit of a 'first' with me. After finding the cache, I realized that my normal 'geocaching' pen wasn't with me! However, absolute blind luck WAS, and I happened to have a calligraphy pen with me, taking it home from work to make a more solid base for it (which I've forgotten to do until typing this sentence )! Thus... this is the first cache that I've signed with a calligraphy pen to date!

As an added bonus, it appears I have a reason to return to this cache, and thus this park! After reading the description (didn't have my palm pilot with me... was travelling light for biking to work today, and geocaching.com is blocked at work), apparently there was a number in this geocache that I needed to jot down. Well, I quite thoroughly did NOT know of this... so I shall return sometime to collect the number. Most likely after I've found another 'Quest' cache in this series. Or earlier... we'll see when I'm on bike in the area next .

So thanks for getting another cache happening in this cloverleaf park. I love the area, and really need to go here more often. I didn't think to check today, but I wonder if that bench is still hiding in the trees... methinks I'll have to find out next time .
