This is my first hide. Was planning this since I started but since the May Blitz came up, added the cache to all the ones popping up in May boosting up the numbers in Manitoba.

Is it a road or isn't it? The city planners decades ago perhaps envisioned it was going to be, but with South St. Boniface coming on line, the map makers will finally remove this portion of John Bruce Rd. Should be safe for a few years til muggle driven heavy equipment get close by.

Rubbermaid container has FTF certificate, crayons, golf ball, army guys, fridge magnet, bungee cord and some Japanese coins.

Decided that since I had access to the car today, and an hour and a half to kill, I'd go after this John Bruce Rd cache that's been on my mind since winter . Way back in winter, I was contemplating going after this cache, but the deep snows got me to turn back. THIS time however... there was no snow to stop me.

And again, it was another one of those situations where if my fiancee were with me, she'd be calling me insane. Pfft, I grew up in the country. I was familiar with how well a Sunfire can take a dirt/grass road . In either case... one grassy, undercarriage-cleany drive later and I was as close to the cache as I was going to get by vehicle. Time to start walking. A tad damp there still, but I was able to avoid stepping in any puddles. However... said puddles were definitely making the mosquito population happy. No standing still for this cache... gotta keep moving .

So a quick walk later, and I found myself at the cache coords. Poked in the wrong place a few times, but quickly corrected myself and found the cache . Ahh, at long last John Bruce... you have been claimed. Didn't sign much on the logbook, since as I mentioned earlier... it was a mosquito-infested hike to say the least . But a chainmail ball and a date and name were tossed into the logbook (well, not the chainmail ball... that went into the container in general ), and off I went, fleeing from the growing mosquito population whom had now fully discovered that this blood-filled meat sack was standing in their territory. Backed my way off of the dirt/grass road, and it was a mission accomplished .

Thanks for the entertaining, foresty cache. It's these types of things that keep me geocaching .
