A nice easy-ish cache for my first ever geocache hide, in a fun, family orientated park in Sutton.
Collingwood Recreation Ground is a great family friendly park space in Sutton with an enclosed playground, basketball court, skate park and static exercise machine area, not to mention a large open field surrounded by trees.
The Recreation Ground is situated adjacent to Sutton United FC's home stadium, The Borough Sports Ground, and there are often footballers to be seen playing on the football pitches marked out in the park during the football season.
There are always plenty of dog walkers about so some stealth may be needed, although I've endeavoured to find a fairly quiet spot away from the busiest areas of the park.
You are looking for a small black container, slightly larger than a regular nano but not by much. No space for anything other than the tightly rolled log sheet (please be sure to roll up tightly using the included makeshift roller so that it fits back in snugly!) so please bring your own pen/pencil. 18/04/2023 By Kabutroid Oh my goodness it is good to be back into geocaching, I’ve been away a bit for the past 2 years. Don’t mind the book I’m about to write, it’s my style lol, I like to write a good read.
Anyways, I’ve been away from my caching gear, but I am back again. Just moved to England now, so I had to get a cache find to celebrate. A beautiful park here, with lots of birds wandering around, and a handful of flowers about to smell as well! The clouds and wind kept the people at bay it seems, which helped out as I was a bit worried the place might be swarmed with people. It’ll take more than a chilly wind to keep someone from Canada at bay though lol. And so I pulled out the GPS, and found my way to the park, a bit confused at first, as I had to go south and then double back north again to get to the cache. I’m sure there’s probably a second entrance to the area, but the walking was nice, as were the birds. Friendly little fellas, wouldn’t let me walk right up to them, but chatting with them and stuff I could get about 10 feet from them as I walked through.
Just a heads up though, the lid to the cache seems to be astray. I tried looking around on the ground to see if it fell off anywhere nearby, but couldn’t find it. Hope that can be replaced soon, though the logbook was still dry. A wonderful walk though, through a wonderful park with nice trees ^_^
I normally leave a chainmaille ball with every cache that I find, but given the size, I put it on a branch vaguely nearby. With the logbook signed, I placed the cache back where I found it, and made my way through the birds and the flowers back onto my travels.
Thank you so much for the cache! It was a delight to go to, with wonderful scenery and flying friends to chat with ^_^
Took: nothing Left: chainmaille ball vaguely nearby
