This cache continues a series of caches in Winnipeg, which highlight the numerous bridges in that city. Please use stealth!

The Chief Cornelius Bignell Bridge was built in 1969. It carries Manitoba PTH 10 over the Saskatchewan River, connecting the Town of The Pas to the south with Opaskwayak Cree Nation to the north. It also serves as a vital transportation link for the City of Flin Flon, further north.

Cornelius Bignell was a longtime leader of the Indigenous peoples in the area. He served as elected councillor of The Pas Indian Band (the formal name of Opaskwayak Cree Nation until 1991) from 1939-1944, and then as Chief for 20 years, from 1945-1965. In 1962, he was inducted into the Manitoba Order of the Buffalo Hunt, the highest class of awards bestowed by the Province of Manitoba.

The bridge that bears his name runs parallel to a train bridge that, since 1913, has carried people and goods along a line running north and east to Hudson Bay.

This cache is located at the edge of Devon Park, on the south shore of the Saskatchewan River. Take time to explore the informative lookout area, the Henry Kelsey monument (pictured), the “Skippy L” riverboat, and the Canadian National Railway caboose.

A TOTT will be required in order to rescue the log from the host. DO NOT attempt to remove the host from its home.

I never thought I would say it, but tftc. Oh my goodness, I'm a month behind on my logging, and need to get this finished. I am so sorry, I wish that I could post a long, amazing, drawn-out story, but I have just not been a computer person for months now.

Have a wonderful day over there, person reading this, and I hope you have just.... a really good snack tonight ^_^
