We will be sitting at the back of the restaurant area. The
reservation is under both Danielle and MBGA and the staff will know
where we are. If you're new and haven't been to many events, don't
be shy, c'mon over. There's going to be cake!
This may come as a surprise to some of you, but we are losing
two of our more well-known and well-travelled cachers in July as
they move east to Ottawa and greener pastures.

Take this opportunity to come out to say goodbye and good luck
to Junglehair and Tromelin as they start a new life in the
nation's capital. Share some stories about their caching exploits
and join in a toast to our friends.

Reservations have been made under "Manitoba Geocaching" at the
Elephant and Castle Pub and Restaurant in the Delta Hotel,
350 St. Mary Avenue in downtown Winnipeg at 7:00PM.
Junglehair is a Charter Member of Groundspeak and has been
geocaching since March, 2002. She has accumulated over 5,000 cache
finds and has hidden 30 caches in Manitoba, New York State and New
Zealand. She is a respected member of the Manitoba Geocaching
community and has served several years on the MBGA executive, and
had served as the President of NYGO (New York Geocaching
Organization). She has introduced caching to many people including
her mother, known to us as The Old Bat.
Tromelin came to us from La Belle Province and is currently
serving in the Canadian Armed Forces. He has been caching for
almost 4 years and has found over 3,400 caches world wide. He has
hidden 7 geocaches, many of which are in Assiniboine Park and
Forest, including one earth cache in New Zealand. He has just
returned from a 6 month deployment in Sudan and is being
transferred to the Ottawa region. Tromelin is a avid caver and one
of our more physical cachers. Add cache to watch list

2 Logs: 1 1
26/06/2010 By Kabutroid Looks like I'm a bit late in logging this one. But... I left the event somewhat late, and I had several other caches to log prior to this one as well. As those who know me will know, this isn't a fast process for me . In either case, I had left immediately from leaving a gathering with some friends waaaay off on the West side of the city, and booked it down over to here. Thankfully, the timing worked out fairly nicely, so there was very little overlap... but I was still one of the last people to show up. It doesn't appear that I missed anything though.
Now, I've never actually BEEN to the Elephant and Castle... although I've been very close to it at one point when I was solving the extremely nearby Tardis cache. At the time however, I was parked at a friends place, and they knew the area... I was just going with the flow at the time. However, today not only was I tasked with re-finding the place, but also finding parking over here too. And preferably fairly close (even more preferably free ), since there had been an absolutely massive downpour of rain less than an hour ago. It was still somewhat drizzling the tail-end of it. But as luck would have it (perhaps as a repayment for the DNF I had gotten on my last cache attempt), I managed to find free parking on the street, less than a block from the pub! SWEET! Hopping across the street, I quickly found my way inside the pub. Being pointed in the direction of the gathering, I was waved over by Dani and offered I think the last empty seat at the table, onto which I promptly put a chainmail ball for the event
Man, it's nice to have seen all you guys again. I've unfortunately been unable to make it out to any events for the past while... they're either way out of town when I don't have the entire day to spare, or on a day when I've got some other obligations happening at the exact same time. But I try... keep an eye out for me at other events.
If I remember, I'll wear chainmail to the next one .
The timing worked out well, since shortly after I arrived the cake was brought out, and we got speeches of sorts from Dani, Junglehair, and... that's right... Tromelin! I do honestly think that this is the very first time I've heard his voice! Cool accent by the way . Also, probably ridiculously late, but congrats on meeting eachother. I actually had no idea until this event! But again... missed out on too many events as of late.
In either case, after some cake, much laughing and chatter ensued. It wasn't that long before a group of us decided to duck out of the place (was getting pretty hot in there anyway) to go tackle the nearby Fifteen Degrees cache. After the successful find there, we returned to the pub to find that some of the people had left, but otherwise it was still pretty active. There was much chatter, during which I let a few people know of the new puzzle cache I had planned in my head (prepare Dani... prepare). Finally, with the activity dying down and other people starting to leave, I figured it was time to do the same.
It was nice to see Junglehair and Tromelin one last time before they headed out. And don't worry... I've mental noted that third room in your new place should I be in the area .
16/05/2010 By Kabutroid Awww... we're losing you guys? Well, I'll try my best to make it out to this event. Been forever since I've been to events in general!
