My daughter and I placed this cache during her visit to Canada for Christmas / New Years. We were looking for an interesting location and came upon this and thought it would be an interesting locale.

This cache is friendlier in the winter and may require the difficulty to be changed in the summer months.

Container is a small Lock and Lock container and should be able to handle some smaller trade items, etc. Included a log book, pencil, and a few other odds and ends.

Decided to wander out after work and go after a geocache. Having located any of the caches even remotely close to my workplace, I decided to wander off to the West a bit. When hey... this cache looks new. Checking out the icon, I vaguely remembered the name coming up when it was first published. Well... no time like the present .

Leaving work at 5:30, I'm still quite surprised that there's still the slightest hint of light remaining in the sky at that time. By the time I had arrived though, the night's darkness was full-on. No worries though... I've got a flashlight and a head-lamp kicking around in my geocaching kit should the need arise. I was in the mood for some geocachin', and nothing, let alone darkness, was going to keep me from it.

Well, if it had decided to drop to -30 or something, that walk down the path in the park would have probably kicked the crap out of me . However, being as it was a relatively nice evening out, I kept going!

At which point, I thank my lucky stars for the GPS's routing ability. It would have taken me forever to weave my way through the residential zone before eventually finding an 'entrance' to the park. Damn residential mazes... seriously, what were the city planners drinking when they came up with half of the designs?

But I digress. I eventually found my way to the right place and parked the car. I ended up circling a little bit to make sure I was allowed to park on that side of the road, and soon enough hopped out of the car and started off. I had no clue what type of cache hide or location was in store for me (although in retrospect, the cache name REALLY should have given it away ). Soon after leaving the car, I realized I had forgotten to take any instant-winter-boots (aka: plastic bags) with me, so I was crossing my fingers I wouldn't have to trudge through snowdrifts. Thankfully, the main park path was well travelled. Upon getting near the coordinates, I heard some kids sliding down the hill nearby, about 150 meters away or so. They were having fun and didn't seem to notice me, so I continued onwards. It looks like I also had a convenient path right up to the coordinates as well! Must be my still-dry feet's lucky day!

I found the cache in fairly short order. I figured there wasn't TOO many places it could hide, and it ended up being in the second place I looked. A little interesting to access, and I imagine it would be a LOT more interesting in the summer... but I'm quite grateful to have found it at this time of year . After retrieving the cache, I walked off a little bit to find a place to crouch down comfortably and sign the log. At which point I nearly killed myself . Turns out that for the most part there's a nice, snowy, grippy surface over everywhere. However, there's a decently sized patch which I for some reason decided to walk towards of sheer, smooth ice. My shoes may be decent for grip, but they can't surpass the slipperyness of the ice there . After catching my balance, I got the logbook signed up.

I've gotta say though... this is a really nice park, even (or possibly especially) in the winter! It was just about the perfect night for a walk in the park. Not a sound could be heard (the kids had gone inside by now), everything was calm, and the view of the trees and various structures was just really soothing. If the distinct lack of sun wasn't making it get colder by the minute, I'd have probably kicked around a little bit more out there . That said, I decided to leave one of my limited edition chainmail balls in the cache... this one being the rubberized-ring chainmail ball. It's squishy!

So thanks for taking me out to the park tonight! It was definitely worth the time to go out for a quiet stroll away from the hustle and bustle of the roads and city as a whole .
