Mr. Smith's Cache

HURRAH! The act of logging this cache has officially had me break my old record of consecutive days finding a cache! Today makes 10 days in a row Smile .

Yes, I know it's meager at best... but a record is a record ToungeOut . And the old record was holding from back in 2006.

So after work today, I decided to head Westward and see what caches were kicking around. I remembered that the nearby 'Sanctuary' cache was around there, but there appeared to be two new ones in the vicinity! Although, I have a vague, hazy memory of seeing more than just the one 'Sanctuary' icon on my GPS at one point or another, but otherwise this one's completely new to me Smile .

It took a bit of weaving around through the residential zone before I found myself in the right area. It didn't help that at this time of day (about 6:00pm), the sun was JUUUUUST getting to the point where it was blinding me horribly. Stupid glare on the windshield. Why must the days that are so nice out hurt me so much ToungeOut . I was going to park on that pseudo-street pretty much right across from the cache, but one home owner happened to have just stepped outside and was watching me intently... I guess just because he didn't recognize my car and wondered who I was or whatnot. Hence... to avoid him either being annoyed, or concerned with me just parking there and going to the park, I instead opted to park one street over. A bit of a walk later, and I found myself near the coordinates. Thankfully, no bystanders were nearby. There was one sitting on that platform further off to the West, but their back was to me.

I actually circled around everything, and didn't spot the cache anywhere I seemed to look. Reading the cache description in my Palm Pilot gave me a bit of a tip as to what type of container to look for. Having a second look around... there it was, staring plainly at me. How I managed to miss that my first circle around, I'll never know ToungeOut . Then again, it's colouring indeed blended in.

To avoid conspicuity, I headed into the grass and sat back a bit, relaxing while I perused the cache. Apparently, a TB is supposed to be in here, but I didn't see one. That could easily be because I wasn't paying too close attention, or someone else grabbed it and didn't log it yet. In either case, I didn't see any swag that particularly caught my eye, so I signed up the logbook and closed it up again. One more quick trip to the hiding spot, and I replaced the cache, hopefully a little bit less visible than when I got there. More... hidden, anyway.

Thanks for introducing me to the area. A nice little park, and had I more time, I would have chilled on that platform for a while and relaxed. It was a pretty nice day out, despite the cool breeze. I get the feeling that the warm days of summer are starting to dwindle to an end for the year. But not quite yet... there still seems to be some good caching days left in 2008 yet BigSmile . However, I had a few more caches ahead of me today, and random stuff (such as eating ToungeOut ) to do at home. Perhaps another day... I have a friend that lives not far from here Smile .

Although on a note related to the cache name... is the name of this cache in any way related to the other one nearby placed by you? I get the feeling that they're... connected, in a way. I'll get more into that when I log the 'Anderson' cache shortly ToungeOut .
