Octopus? Entopus?

My first foray into the realm of above-500 caches. I had actually passed quite close by this cache when I went to get Widget's picnic a litte to the East. On the way back, I decided to finally get this cache off of my list. I've seen it's waypoint sitting there, mocking me on my GPS. Any time I was in the park, there it was... sitting on the other side of the Zoo, being juuuuuust out of the time I had available, or the energy that I had to walk/bike/whatever. The icon on my GPS just sat there, laughing at me from a mere 800 or so feet away. But today... today it laughs no more. Noone's laughing now, ARE THEY! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!!!

ahem Yes, well... anyway. I decided to gather up the remaining caches on the far West side of Assinaboine Park today. At first, the name of this cache confused me quite thoroughly. Well, actually it STILL confuses me, or at least the second half of the name does. As for the Octopus, that makes a LOT more sense when you're actually at the coordinates ToungeOut .

And actually... hmm... goes to google nope, never mind... 'Entopus' doesn't appear to be an actual word, and the only other link that came up was for the same geocache, but on a different geocaching site . So yes... still quite confused what an Ento....

Well crap. It just clicked into place, JUST as I was typing that. I literally stopped typing (and put the ... after that point) just as the full realization of the name clicked in. Good job... very appropriate, creative name BigSmile .

Anyway... sudden realizations aside, this was a good cache all around. The weather was great, I got a lot of fresh air and walking in, I got to smell nature, and check out an awesome-looking Entopus. And actually, reading the previous logs now (sorry MolsonMan... didn't see your log prior to going after the cache, otherwise I would have attempted to locate your etchings and draw them in), one of the previous logs comes to mind... Tumble_Dry mentioned people playing on it. Man, I gotta say... if I was a kid, I would SO be playing all over this thing! Heck, I'm 29 years old, and I was STILL tempted to climb all over it BigSmile .

I grew up in the country... it's a rural thing ToungeOut .

But anyway, the problem with having to search for a micro in an Entopus is that there's so many places it could hide! I first dipped my fingers into one potential spot, but came up empty. The second spot I tried though... woah, hey... there it is! I wasn't expecting to find it NEARLY that quickly, but this was more of a blind-luck, trial-and-error type find than anything else ToungeOut . Had I not gotten lucky there, I could have been searching for another half-hour (although, that would have given me the opportunity to do some good old-fashioned tree-climbing ).

So with the cache in hand, I signed the logbook (which has a LOT of names in it... the hardest part was trying to locate where the April 2009 logs were ToungeOut ) and tossed in a micromail ball. I replaced the cache as best I could identically to how it was before. To the naked eye (ie: what will inevitably be kids playing on here), it's completely invisible... so it should be good as far as I can tell Smile .

Thanks for the cache in the entertaining looking Entopus BigSmile . Got me out on a nice day for some fresh air and caching.
