The story of how we were almost eaten by a lynx So my closest siblings and I, myself being somewhere around the age of 8, were playing in the back field, as we often did, running around, hitting rocks with sticks, playing with the anthills what have you. And it was your average, weekend afternoon for us prairie folk. Now, in the past month or so, there had been a lynx in the area, killing the occasional cattle, and was generally the talk of the community of homesteads in the square mile area. I knew vaguely of it, but little more than just that it had killed a cow or two. Now, after that afternoon of playing in the field, towards the end of the afternoon I decided to crawl under the bushes at the edge of the property, for no reason other than fun. While underneath there, I spotted them. Fresh, large cat paw marks, bigger than any normal animal of the area, seated firmly beneath that bush, pointed directly towards our field that we had been playing in. I was told later by our parents that they were lynx tracks. So that's more or less it, really. The lynx was just... there... watching us play in the field. Just... sizing us up for a snack I suppose. But still, a vicious, hungry wild cat, was sitting there, watching us young children playing in an open field. None of us were eaten though, so all good!
