Having now seen that there was a geocoin inside of the cache somewhere, I wish I had stayed around a bit longer to look in the cache more thoroughly. Although, looking at the TB's page, I get the feeling that the coin may have walked at this point . But that aside, on to the cache! I had just finished an awesome day of relaxing and playing at Grand Beach (the water is still ludicrously cold by the way, but nuts to that, I wanted to play in the water ), as well as tackling a nearby cache. However, still having the urge to find another cache or so, I set my GPS for the next closest one, and continued on my drive back to Winnipeg.

As we neared the cache, the GPS oh so helpfully beeped that we were nearby, and I pulled off onto the road near the cache. When I had first pulled up, I was a bit worried... the sign for keeping off the continuing road concerned me, since I had (as I usually somehow manage to) mis-judged the distance the cache was from the main highway. Looking at the GPS again, I quickly realized that I travelled away from said off-limits section. That worry out of the way, I continued hiking along, stepping through some of the ditch water to get close to ground zero. Thankfully, I was wearing my sandals and shorts, so walking in the water was nothing to me.

And thank god, for some bizarre reason that I will absolutely not argue with, there was no mosquitoes. This type of setting seems like the absolute perfect breeding ground for those guys, but nary a one went after me all through the cache hunting and signing . I don't know what about the weather decided to wipe them out (hopefully) this year, but hopefully it can be pulled off again next year... preferably with less flooding though. Canker worms too... seems like those guys don't exist either. Gotta say... thinking about it now... despite the flooding, the lack of mosquitoes and canker worms are at least making the rest the season nice.

So, continuing on, I found myself at ground zero, mostly hidden amongst the foliage from the cars on the highway. I doubt they'd notice me to begin with, what with having to watch the road, but at least I felt fairly hidden for my own peace of mind. I began looking around, hoping that I wouldn't have to walk in the unexpectedly warm water that sat mere feet in front of me. Seconds later however, I spotted the cache container, and was more than pleased that it required no dampening of the feet at all . Thanks to the lack of mosquitoes, I was able to just crouch down right there and sign the logbook... which by the way is accidentally dated for the 16th... I kinda forgot the date when I was there .

With the cache signed and a signature chainmail ball (coincidentally the last of the regular size ones... methinks I need to make more of them very soon) dropped inside, I replaced the cache as found and headed back to the car. Actually knowing where I was going this time, I was able to avoid getting my feet wet a second time, and we were soon headed back home. I had thought of going after a third cache, but we ended up passing by it without noticing (had the GPS on direct line instead of follow-road, so it didn't beep at me ).

Thanks for giving me a cache to go after in the path between Grand Beach and Winnipeg. There needs to be more of them kicking around out here. Although the logbook is slightly damp inside the cache container. Not wet to the point that I'd be able to wipe anything away, but more like it'd need an hour of sitting in the hot sun or something. Or perhaps just a logbook of waterproof paper.
