Take a nap on the sidewalk, beg for change, yell at the wall, but whatever you do don't look like you've found something interesting!

Coins and pins only please – no baggies!

This small cache is located in the historic Exchange District of downtown Winnipeg. It's a high-muggle area, so this hidden in plain view cache has been carefully camouflaged. The cache is suitable for trading pins and coins.

You must choose your hunt time wisely and be sure to use stealth when retrieving the cache. If you are spotted it will likely be muggled and gone for good. Please use care not to be spotted when rehiding.

With limited sky view it may be difficult to get a good reading, but Google Satellite images are your friend!

July 19, 2007 Update

The cache is now located on a bakery patio in the summer months. This came as somewhat of a surprise. The patio gate will be closed after hours so access may be a problem at times. The new owner is happy to have the cache remain on the patio. Once the snow flies, the patio comes down so the city can clear the sidewalk.

This will definitely up the difficulty level to retrieve it without being noticed, but should limit the search somewhat with the poor GPSr reception here.

There's plenty of great patios and little restaurants close by, and there's usually something going on in Old Market Square during the summer. Not to mention the dozen or so unique art galleries scattered around The Exchange. If you've got time to explore, there's distinctive businesses tucked away here, there and everywhere in the old warehouses in the area - and not on the main floor either. Watch for signs! During the Fringe Festival, this area will be very busy.

This hide was inspired by legendary cacher Curious George of Victoria, BC.

Found it 3/13/2007 by Kabuthunk
Things to do while waiting for your fiancee who's have a group-meeting at Red River College:

1. Geocache
2. There's no point in further speculation ToungeOut

Hence... off I went while the group attempted to complete some project of some sort. Not wanting to fiddle around inside my geocaching bag, or blatantly display that I have a GPS and digital camera dangling from a bag that's ALSO dangling loosely from my shoulder ToungeOut. Off came the GPS, and out came the palm pilot, pen, and chainmail balls into my pockets. The rest remained in my work backpack, strapped to my back.

OFF I GO! Pull out the GPS and keep glancing at it every so often to make sure I'm going in the right direction.

Inevitably, I'm not ToungeOut. Due to my horrible sense of direction, I'm forced to double back here and there. People watching me must have thought I was either insane or lost.

In my defense though... once I started to get towards the bigger buildings, my GPS's accuracy was starting to drop like the weather as the sun goes down ToungeOut.

So... after weaving my way towards the cache, I get vaguely close to where I think it is. Looking around, I don't see all that much that could contain a cache. Poked my hands around a few things that were capable of holding something magnetic, when I figured there wouldn't have been room enough for anything anyway. Pulled out the palm pilot and looked at the cache discription.

"Ahh", says I. "Hidden in plain view, are we?" Looking around, my eyes happened to spot something vaguely similar to several other caches I've come across of a similar nature (not sure if they were by the same owner or not, but were quite similar regardless). Absolutely noone around in either direction (yay for luck!), so I did me some good old-fashioned finger-pokin'.

SUCCESS! The finger-poke never lies! Quickly extracting the cache, I decide to listen to the description and walk away for a bit to standing close to the interesection in front of 'The Line Up' (note: good food and drinks there for anyone curious to go in). After cracking open the container however, it appears to be slightly damp in there. A few water droplets have gathered on the bottom, and the logbook is ever-so-slightly damp. Not yet enough to affect writing in the logbook, but I imagine another few months might cause problems.

Attempted to wipe up the droplets, and signed me some logbook. Only jotted down my name and the date, due to the logbook's size and me not wanting to stand around there forever though Frown. After tossing in a chainmail ball and packing up the cache again, I made sure it was once again closed tightly in hopes of keeping it dry. A quick walk down the (luckly still deserted) street, and quickly placed the cache back in it's position. Mission accomplished BigSmile.

Excellent hiding spot though. I've walked by that cache at least a dozen times in summer when I worked in the Richardson building, as well as with relatives going to the aformentioned 'Line Up', and never knew it was there. Actually, I wasn't even a geocacher back then. Ahh, you never know how many you pass until you start caching ToungeOut.

Took: Nothing
Left: Logbook entry and chainmail ball
