Second cache of the day for me, and as well the second cache I've snowshoed to. Eeeehehehe... I love snowshoeing now. So glad I saved up to buy me a nice pair Smile.

After hiking from the car and across/down the river to the 'Lego Island' cache, I turned around and headed out towards Assiniboine park as a whole. I actually hadn't even been thinking about which cache to go after at the time, until I was somewhere about 300 meters from the cache (consider I've found virtually all caches at this park, that's quite close compared to the next closest). Looking at the GPS, I noticed that this one was nearby, and started to trudge over.

And trails? Pfeh, trails are for the weak. Or non-snowshoed, one of the two. Making a bee-line for the cache, I came across several skating rinks in close proximity to eachother. I was mildly surprised not to see an ice-trail linking the two rinks, but since my path took me between the two of them, it worked out fairly well. The snow was unfortunately not as deep as I would have liked for most of the field leading up to this area, but once I got into the trees where few people have walked (since the last snowfall, anyway), it was nice and deep. Well, deepish, anyway. At long last, I finally trudged my way to the coordinates. From nearby, I already had an assumption as to where the cache container was, and about 4 seconds after having arrived at ground zero, I was correct. Although, I don't know if I'd consider this specifically winter-friendly. Well, I guess the location is fairly easy to figure out, but depending on snow conditions, it could make things a bit more difficult.

In either case, I must say... that's quite the intriguing cache container. Can't say I've ever seen anything like THAT used before, although it DID make grabbing the container itself quite easy Smile. However, removing the logbook from the cache container can be a bit of a trial. Perhaps if someone could bring a rubber band or something similar, that might make things easier. That aside, I was able to sign the logbook and drop in a micromail ball... quite possibly one of the few signature items that can make it into there ToungeOut. After easily replacing the logbook, I returned the cache container from whence it came.

Thanks for giving me yet another objective to go after today, since I was specifically looking for places to go with the snowshoes (have I mentioned how much I like them? ToungeOut). As an added bonus, while I was sitting down to write in the logbook, another snowshoer passed by... which quite surprised me, since I don't think I've even SEEN another snowshoer until today. Although, there's a distinct possibility that I simply hadn't paid attention. He didn't even turn to look at me, and nobody else walked by that area, so I'm pretty certain the cache location is safe.

One way or the other, mission accomplished Smile.

Took: Nothing
Left: Logbook entry and micromail ball
