Bit late in logging this one, sorry 'bout that. Well... late for me, anyway.

But anyhoo, this was a bit more of an impromptu caching day than expected. Beginning the day, I had fully expected to spend the entire day at home catching up on housework that I've been putting off for weeks. However, as the day was starting to get on towards noon, my wife noticed how unbelievably nice a day it was out. Thus, she was in the mood for a walk, and for some peculiar reason... the zoo specifically.

So hey, I'm not going to argue! I tell her that there's a pile of caches there, and she tells me she fully expected I'd probably be lugging around my geocaching kit with me.

Also somewhat luckily, my brother had lent me his rarely-used-any-more (despite my best efforts to get him back into it more) GPS when he visited last week. My own GPS went missing one day in a bicycle shop, and was never turned in . Thus, this was my first outing using the Garmin GPSMap 60CSx instead of my 60Cx. Personally... I preferred the Cx much more due to various little nuances, but hey... not looking a gift horse in the mouth here.

So... with said borrowed GPS... and a minor innovation to my geocaching kit that rendered the GPS (or my camera clipped to the other side) incapable of coming unclipped and falling to the ground... I prepared for the zoo. One quick drive later, and we arrived.

Since I was mainly here to spend the day with my wife, I decided against going all-out and attempting to get all zoo caches... however I did manage to find two. THIS one in particular I just happened to pick at random because we were walking nearby. I kept glancing at the GPS every so often as we wandered to see if we were near one. Right when we were close to this one, I had ended up feeling around various things in hopes of finding it by random luck. But when I didn't, I kinda felt I had put too much effort in, and would have to log a DNF if I just continued onwards. So... look for this one more thoroughly I did!

I ended up circling around a little bit until the GPS managed to zero in on the area. At first I couldn't find squat, and so checked y palm pilot for any hints. Unfortunately... even after having found the cache, I STILL can't understand this hint . The name kinda helped though. Soon thereafter, I ended up just stumbling upon it. It was actually just lying on it's side, instead of in the 'assumed position', so to speak. So after having signed the logbook and dropping a micromail ball into the 'tradeables' part of the cache, I replaced it in a manner more fitting to how it was meant to be hidden.

Although, you REALLY want to be looking into replacing the logbook... most likely with waterproof paper if you can (I recommend that Rite-In-The-Rain stuff, since I've done like... a ton of tests involving wetness on it). It's quite damp, and hard to write on without the paper trying to tear.

Otherwise, awesome hide as usual. All the zoo caches are tricky, unexpected hide styles, so I've always gotta keep my mind sharp when in here . Thanks for giving me a bonus destination while out with my wife .
