After myself and 1purplemonkeydishwasher1 split up at the nearby (ok, well... half a kilometer away) 'Zoo Train' cache, I headed back towards this one. Strangely, I only just now realized the similarities between the two caches. Peculiar how both a large cache (Zoo Train) and this micro can have so much in common ToungeOut. Then again, I'm going to blame the fact that I didn't catch it earlier on the fact that my GPS omitted the dash in the log name ToungeOut.

In either case, it was quite a trek to get to this cache. True to the cache name, I got a fair amount of physical training getting to here. From 'Zoo Train', I accidentally took a road going more North, and ended up getting further from the cache than I had anticipated. Not wanting to walk way over to the intersection along the road and then follow THAT towards the cache, I decided it'd be "easier and faster" to just cut diagonally across the large field. Yeah, THERE was a mistake ToungeOut. After plunging into the deep snow, I quickly contemplated turning back onto the road again. However, by the time I thought that, I was already about 20 feet in, so I figured "eh, whatever" and kept going.

My, how the trudging was slow. The snow never really got less deep, and it was all the exact same consistancy... thick ToungeOut. I decided the best way to get across the field is to just 'zone out' and mindlessly trudge until I hit something that wasn't snowbank. I'm not entirely show how much time passed, but eventually, I found myself on the sidewalk... coincidentally the sidewalk myself and PMD were on to get to the nearby (actually nearby this time) 'Cache for Christmas'. I crossed the street at the exact same place (my previous footholes also made this easier), and worked my way towards the coordinates. I followed a path that seems to be quite thoroughly used by cross-country skiiers (sorry if I made your path a bit bumpier with my clumsy feet... was looking to walk on the most solid part of the snow... the ski trail), and slowly but surely worked my way towards the cache. Sadly, the name of the cache STILL didn't kick in (see earlier where I'm placing the blame ToungeOut), but quickly found my way to the cache. Something looked... off... which allowed me to find it with very little fuss. Thankfully, there didn't appear to be any skiiers or other bystanders around, so I was fairly unnoticed while signing the logbook. The last thing I would have needed was a group of skiiers working their way down the path immediately behind me.

But... the cache finally reached and signed, I got a micromail ball into there (fits almost perfectly!) and popped the logbook back inside. Re-hiding it as found, I left victorious.

And then noticed something strange. When circling around the fence, I saw several tracks leading up to the gate, which was bent inwards as if someone had tried to push it open. Seriously... who in the word would WANT to try to break into there? It's not like you can hot-wire what's inside and steal it or something. Eh, maybe some random kids were just curious if it was locked, or wanted to play on it or something. It just struck me as funny, is all.

After all, if they had climbed the fence, managed to actually hot-wire it AND get it to move, I'm pretty sure it would have plowed straight through that fence without slowing down ToungeOut.

But that aside, thanks for the interestingly hidden cache. There's many a cache at Assinaboine Park, and I'm slowly managing to locate them all BigSmile.

Took: Nothing
Left: Logbook entry and micromail ball
