Found it 7/23/2008 by Kabuthunk
After having found a cache vaguely nearby, I decided to swing around and go after this one.

This was actually the FIRST cache that I had planned to go after, but a slight mis-turn led me onto the perimeter, instead of down the road leading to this cache! So after finding another cache and turning around, I made a second attempt to get onto the correct road... success!

For the record, the road leading to here coming off of Bishop Grandin looks somewhat like it's just a driveway leading up to that apartment building. For those not familiar with the area, I guess... but yeah, it threw me off ToungeOut.

In either case, I drove on down the road with rain starting to come down harder. It was going to be a wet trip to the cache, of that I was sure. I pulled a bit past the cache and pondered for a minute parking my car under the bridge. Not on the road, y'know... but on that little gravel lot under the bridge assumingly meant for construction workers. Given it was about 6:00pm and raining, I didn't forsee any workers showing up in the near future. However, I ended up deciding against it since I saw that I was now almost exactly a hundred meters away... which would make for a pretty wet walk.

Driving back a bit, I found a bit of a gravel pull-off just past the trees. Unfortunately, that one ended up putting me at 107 meters away. Not wanting to bother turning around to save 7 meters, I got out of the car and bolted to the coordinates. Thankfully, the trees stopped much of the rain once I was off the path. The shrubberies on the ground however were kind enough to deposit all the water they had collected onto my pants ToungeOut.

A few seconds later, and I found myself at the coordinates! It didn't take long to find the cache. I think my GPS was bouncing a bit under the trees, since it originally placed me about 10 meters away. But yeah, that was quickly corrected, and I found myself at the geocache container.

One good thing about rain... not a soul was out for a walk... I was in complete solitude for this one Smile.

Lobbing in a chainmail ball, I very quickly signed the logbook (trying to avoid getting it wet and all) and closed it all up.

Although, as Bevro mentioned with his 'need maintenance' log on February 24th, the hole in the lid near the corner is still there. I didn't have anything readily available to plug it at the time either. Hope this area is on a bit of a 'higher' spot, since I could see that getting pretty wet if its hiding spot turns into a deep puddle. Although, given it's still dry after this far into summer, it can't be that bad for pooling water around here. It should probably be fixed, or at least patched before winter though. Snow gets into EVERYWHERE.

But thanks for the nice cache after work. It got me somewhat damp... but I've put myself through 10 times as much to go after a geocache at times ToungeOut.

Took: Nothing
Left: Logbook entry and chainmail ball
